What to do for Kidney Stone elimination?

My husband has had kidney stones twice, including surgery to remove one, and it is a scary and painful thing. Making sure you are extremely well hydrated – with clean, pure water, is always the first recommendation. Dehydration contributes to stone formation and to difficulty passing the stones. Drink at least .5 ounces of water for every pound you weigh. Weight 150 pounds? That’s 75 ounces water as a minimum (about 9 cups). You should also make sure you don’t ingest too much protein, salt, or sugar. And if you have gained some weight, try to lose those extra pounds as obesity is another contributing factor to kidney stones.
